Schedule a notification

Scheduling a notification means preparing it now so that it is sent on its own on a specific date and time. It is useful for campaigns that have to go out at a given moment, such as the start of a promotion.

For a send that repeats, for example every Monday, use an automation with the Recurring recipe.

In the app’s Notifications tab, click Schedule. The wizard has four steps: Trigger, Template, Audience and Confirm.

In Schedule date & time you choose when it will be sent. The time goes in 5-minute steps and must be at least 5 minutes after the current time. It is interpreted in the time zone of the browser used to schedule it.

Choose the notification you want to schedule. If it does not exist yet, create it with Create notification. Once selected it is shown read-only; to change it without touching the original, click Duplicate to edit and then Save & use. Content and languages are described in create a notification.

In Send to you choose who will receive the notification: every user, or some of them by zone, country, language, operating system, access dates or location, or a specific list of devices. Each type and its settings are explained in audience types.

The Estimated user count panel updates with every change and shows how many devices match the audience at that moment.

The screen summarises the trigger, which is the chosen date and time, the template, what happens when the notification is tapped and the audience, together with the Estimated recipients.

The Estimated recipients figure is the one at that moment. The actual audience is calculated when the notification is sent, so it may vary if the devices change in the meantime.

Two things are set here:

SettingWhat it is
Inbox relevanceHow many days the notification stays visible in the app’s notification inbox, counted from the send. Between 1 and 60 days, 7 by default.
EnvironmentOnly in apps with more than one environment. Which environment receives the send; production by default. It does not appear with the device list audiences or the test audience.

To finish, click Schedule send. The backoffice opens the Scheduled tab.

The Scheduled tab lists each scheduled send with the template name, the send date and time and its status: pending, sent, canceled or failed.

A pending send is canceled with the Cancel button in its row. Cancellation cannot be undone. A scheduled send cannot be edited: to change something, cancel it and schedule a new one.

When the time comes, the send appears in All deliveries, in Web mode. See send history.
